EOC Week 11: Forced Choice

            Did all of the blogs including the 20 quotes. Each blog goes into detail and has the right amount of words. Looks as if she followed the rules.

            Did all of the blogs but was missing a few quotes. His work is well presented and shows effort.

            Did a good job except that she is missing one of the blogs as well as not have 20 quotes.

4.Nina

            Did all of the blogs but has no quotes. Her blogs also don’t look like they are 300 words each.

            Only did the first two of the assignment. Out the two they do show that he did some work but he did not put any quotes in to the project.

6.Angel

            Only did the first two of the assignment. Neither one is in extensive detail nor has she any quotes.

            Did not turn in the assignment therefore cannot be graded.

Week 10 EOC; The Law and Justice 2 Movies

In the both movies that we watched Erin Brocovich and Flash of Genius you see two sides of the spectrum with Lawyers. Everyone can argue that lawyers are slime but when it comes down to it people form their ideas by things that they watch. If you set two groups up in two different rooms and showed one of the rooms movies about how lawyers use and abuse and are just in the profession for the money then those people would assume that all lawyers were this way. If you took the people in the other room and showed them movies about lawyers who are there to do the right thing and who truly want to help people then that group would think highly about lawyers. My view of the law in this class has not changed. I truly think that there are good lawyers out there and that there are bad lawyers out there. Its not a base of opinion but fact there is no one person out there who knows every lawyers that there is. So we can not group everything that we know about lawyers on the bases of the media. We put to much thought about what is being said about people  on the media. Everyone should be able to tell you that the media focuses on the bad more so then the good.

Week9 EOC: Letters of Permission

The four letters of permission that I decided to go with are all in one way or another related to my field of study. The first form that I went with was a property release form due to the fact that in photography objects will be in the photographs. By having the property release form it allows me to take those pictures without the possibility of lawsuit. The second form that I chose to use was a model release form. This form allows myself as well as the model to make sure that our right are protected. This form allows for me to use pictures of the model in any way shape or form that is not derogatory unless other wise stated in the release form agreement, without possibility of legal action.  The third for that I used was the web site linking agreement. I chose this form because it allows me and my website as well as the website of the release form to be included into my works. The final form that I used was the photography permission form. This for allows for me to take pictures of people and or objects that maybe required for my field of work. 

Week 8 EOC: Bratz Brawl

The big controversy on weather or not the inventor of Bratz dolls violated his agreement with Mattel has been stretched out. Trade secret violations about the Bratz doll have gone too far. I Believe that since Mattel was awarded with 100 million dollars you would think that this would be enough for them. Wrong. Mattel believes that they should own all right to the Bratz doll. It is true that inventor of Bratz was in violation due to the fact that his contract with Mattel clearly stated that all things invented while employed with them belong to the company. This is in effect regardless of weather or not he invented the toy on his own time or at the company itself. While I’m sure plenty of other company’s infiltrate their competitors in order to figure out what there new competition will be but the fact that Mattel got caught in the process was over the top. "All of these statements by Mr. Larian were gratuitous and volunteered; are false; and have tainted the trial proceedings such that Mattel cannot get a fair trial," the motion states. While Larian says that all of this trouble over the dolls and how his family is being destroyed are also outrageous. "He clearly associated (his father's) death with the litigation, and it's been an extremely traumatic and emotional experience for him and his family," Parachini said. "He was very upset and is very upset about that." If he continues to go the way that he is not only will Mattel get more because of Bratz but then they could also go for him in other cases such as slander.  “Barbie stands for good,” it said. “All others stand for evil.” This statement to me is funny because Barbie has made Mattel for what it is and she is suppose to represent innocence so then why would they continue going after more from Bratz when they represent the complete opposite?

Week 7 EOC: 10 Intellectual Property Questions

1. How do I know what form of intellectual property protection is available for my work?
2. How much of my work is protected under a copyright?
3. How can I prove that there has been an infringement on my copyright? 
4. Can I protect multiple but related works under the same registration?

EOC Week 6: Illicit

Illicit activity is a major problem in the world today. Most people do not believe that buying a simple handbag or watch would create a problem. Think about not only what you are buying at that moment but what else those people who are selling you the product may also be selling.  “Argentina has accused the United States of bringing undeclared weapons, drugs and communications equipment into the country,” (TOM HENNIGAN) Many can believe that what they are doing is nothing to worry about. But something as simple to buying a copied handbag can be also related to a more sinister scenario.  Even though the above quote may not be a simple black market case, the government could also be a factor of some of these illicit activities.  Buying a simple handbag or a pair of sunglasses could lead to something far more complex such as possibly buying from the same people who also illicit liquor.  There are many types of illicit activity some ranging from not so bad to unthinkable. There are things as little as buying counterfeit clothes and accessories to buying human organs and trafficking children out for sex. Something that many would think was horrible and unthinkable. Even I myself did not make the leap between the two. Asking myself how could buying a fake handbag be bad or lead to worse things. For the buyer maybe not so much but in order to stop these types of activity’s we have to think about the consumers and educating them on what they may be buying and other things that relate to those. Illicit activities are a major problem in society today and the government and ourselves need to help stop these issues. Many of us would find buying a human repulsive so why support the same group by buying the lesser accessories.

EOC week 5: Lawyers Looking for Fame

            In a case of lawyers who look for fame I’m sure that many people would automatically assume that these specific lawyers are people who make sure to put themselves in the limelight. Lawyers who purposefully put their names on billboards, and make commercials, and are on T.V. every chance that they get, these are the lawyers that most people think of.  These are the types of lawyers that tend to give all other lawyers a bad name. But there are lawyers out there who do not truly look for fame but it is given to them in other ways. “We are grateful to be recognized by Missouri Lawyers Weekly for our work on behalf of our clients. It is a testament to our team of dedicated lawyers and staff.” This was a statement made by Ron Brown of Brown and Cruoppen Plaintiff Law Firm after finding out that they won the Winningest Plaintiff Law Firm by Missouri Lawyers Weekly. There are lawyers out there that do truly earn the fame that they are getting, as well as lawyers who do this job just because they love it. Money is not always everything. While I’m sure that this law firm is not not advertising themselves everyone does deserve a little fame and fortune now and again. Most lawyers depending on the type of law that they practice are in an area where advertising is a necessary. We also congratulate our colleague Jim Lemonds for being named one of the state's Winningest Plaintiff Attorneys for 2010. Jim works hard on behalf of his clients.” Its good that this particular law firm is not just looking out for the names of the company but also giving credit to the other lawyers who are working for them. While I believe that lawyers who seek fame are more common then not there are lawyers out there who look to help their clients and end up gaining the fame from the work they do.

EOC week 4 Death Race Jeopardy

I enjoyed the game it helped me to better learn and understand some of the definitions that are covered in the book. I particularly enjoyed the fact that after the game we were awarded with extra credit points for the upcoming midterm for next week. I truly believe that this game of jeopardy is a very effective way of learning all of the vocabulary words. Racing others to the board of course will always be a blast due to the fact that you never know if you will be awarded for any of the work that we are putting in. I enjoyed having to work in groups and being able to see how others are doing with their studying. When you have over 50 definitions that you have to study only in a few weeks time it can be a little over whelming so when you get the chance to turn it into a game it is always a good way to relieve some stress.

EOC week 3: Sample Jeopardy Questions

1. A handicap to inventors trying to market a product to businesses that refuse to buy, develop, or distribute inventions owned by outside inventors.

EOC week 2: Lawyers

          To be perfectly honest lawyers to me are a necessity. Yes many people do argue that lawyers are slimy, egotistical, soul selling pains, but they do serve a good purpose. This particular group of people goes to school for years on end and sits through what many of us would consider boring lectures just to learn a multitude of what I would also consider useless information about political crap, just in order to do their jobs.  Lawyers are there to defend everyone from your average joe to your fortune 500 company CEO. Yes some would say that lawyers sell their souls to the devil (and they may, if that’s what you believe in) but other lawyers are there because they want to be that person that helps others and were just to queasy to become someone in a health related position. There are those lawyers out there that do do pro bono cases which means that they do them for free, if they believe that the case is a good one and if it also hits close to home, (in other words they take a very personal interest in it). Yes they are like picking out your needle in a haystack but they do exist. Lawyers do the jobs that some of us would not even consider, they have to lie, cheat, and steal along with a multitude of other things that also includes defending the nations best criminals. Lawyers have to take the step below the steps in order to do their job even if they are morally challenged while doing that job. I believe that in order to be a lawyer you would have to be a strong person. A person that would possibly be challenged by everyone and everything around them but would be okay knowing that this could be a fact.

Week 1 EOC: About Me

As a photographer I believe that I see a world that others do not. I take that extra step to go beyond the normal and shoot for the ignored.  In my photography I want to help others to see the beauty that is still in the world, the beauty that is forgotten in our every day-to-day life. Weather it be nature, architecture, or even people I believe that it is a necessary to help show the world that there is more to life then just our assumptions. Photography is about more then just taking a picture to me, it is about finding the usual or unusual aspects of life and laying them out for all to see, about breaking things down and showing its raw beauty.  Photography is more then a career or job it’s a lifestyle and a lifestyle that I have chosen to undertake as a part of my being. I want my photography to speak, to tell stories to all who see. Making a great photograph is not difficult because beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but a great Photographer is creating a beauty that speaks to all. A beauty that signifies that the picture is speaking to the person that is viewing it, but also allows the viewer to understand what they are seeing as well.
